19 March…
Exactly, one year ago, on this date, my tiny blog entered into the huge online world of blogs and websites.
I am so happy that today it completes ONE YEAR and I have written this blog post to celebrate the 1st birthday of my blog – Delighted Baking.
I’ll share all the memorable moments that occurred during this one year journey of my blog.
So, let’s start from the beginning –
Why did I start a blog?
For this let’s go into the flashback. I was probably in class 11th when I started creating a website (Yeah! A website) all from the scratch. My sister is a web developer and I actually used to take HTML lessons from her. After a week’s time, I gave up. It was too much for me to learn.
December, 2016 :
Surfing through Android Playstore, I came across an app called BLOGGER. I asked my sister about it. Got to know that it’s used to create blogs/websites. The class 11th “I’ll create a website” bug bit me again. I downloaded the app and I was like, I’ll start a blog.
YES.
The reason behind starting a blog was just that I came across something new (The Blogger App) and I wanted to explore it. Since childhood I liked working on a PC. My childhood favourite being PowerPoint presentations. Yes. I still have a collection of those on my PC. And mind it, I am really good at making PowerPoint presentations. (Small Brag) :p
Let’s come back to our main topic. I downloaded the Blogger app. The next important point was WHAT WILL I BLOG ABOUT?
The Topic of my Blog :
See, back then (and even now) I have two main areas of interest – English Literature (Any Shakespeare Fan? Virtual High Five to You) & Baking.
I already had a facebook page dedicated to literature. I started it on April 2, 2015. It’s all about English Literature, novels, poetry, drama etc. If anyone of you is interested in it, CHECK IT HERE.
So obviously, I thought, I’ll start a blog related to Baking.
The name : Delighted Baking
Most of my blogger buddies will agree with me that selecting a name for your blog is a big task.
I made so many word combinations with the word ‘Baking’, I can’t even tell you.
Finally, after 2 days, this name clicked and my blog was titled Delighted Baking. 🙂
I started working on the blog.
Baking different items, clicking images, writing posts, sharing them on the facebook page etc. Everything was so enjoyable.
But after some time, I felt my blog was not looking good. It was okay but not pretty.
So, in March 2017 I shifted to the blogging platform WIX. It was the same time when I purchased the domain from Big Rock.
That’s the reason, my blog’s Birthday is in March. I bought both the hosting as well the domain name on March 19 and that’s when my current blog came into existence.
In March itself I created a Pinterest account for my blog.
I joined a number of blogging related facebook groups. Started reading and learning about blogging. Simultaneously, I was working on my blog. Trying different recipes for the blog.
Writing blog posts. And all other blogging work.
Technical Blogging Points (**Ignore if you are not interested in knowing about the technical blogging info about the blog. Just skip to the next heading **)
Page Views in 1 year – 18,053
Facebook Likes in 1 Year – 2717
Pinterest Followers in 1 Year – 1382
Other Achievements :
I would happily like to mention that Pinterest is one of my biggest achievement.
I recently crossed the landmark of 100k MONTHLY VIEWS ON PINTEREST .

As I only have two social media accounts for my blog (Pinterest and Facebook), I am happy with the growth of the Pinterest account. Facebook has also been good but Pinterest has seen a really good growth.
All the credit , for the Pinterest growth goes to one e-book – Pinteresting Strategies.
When I started reading about the ways in which Pinterest traffic can be increased, all the ways/methods that I came across used paid scheduling tools on Pinterest . But I was not interested in using paid scheduling tools for Pinterest. One day, in a facebook group, I read about Pinteresting Strategies : an e-book by Carly Campbell.
This e-book is based on manual pinning and it was the right thing for me. I bought it and started implementing its strategies on my Pinterest account .
My Pinterest statistics started to increase. And if you are a blogger, you will understand how good it feels to see your followers/views increase.
Carly , in this e-book, explains all the strategies and methods in which one can increase his/her Pinterest traffic.
Even if you are using paid scheduling tools for Pinterest, I’ll recommend this e-book. I know many bloggers who use manual pinning strategies from this e-book as well as paid scheduling tools (Tailwind or Boardbooster) and their Pinterest traffic is soaring higher and higher.
If you want to know more about this e-book, click here !
Please Note : I’ll start a facebook group soon. Hope to see you there! 🙂
Guest Posts :
I also got the opportunity to write guest posts for some amazing bloggers. (You can find them below). I loved writing those. Although my niche is related to baking and cooking, I like writing posts related to self care, happiness, personal development etc. This reminds me that I haven’t written a guest post for a long time. I’ll write one soon!
(By the way, if you are a blogger and want someone to write a guest post , let me know. Send me an email to delightedbaking@gmail.com )
