Guide for Baking For Beginners Course : This Guide includes a list of basic baking tools and ingredients you should have for the course.
You will need these baking tools and ingredients every time you bake – for the course and even later.
NOTE : One of the common mistakes people make is that they use the regular utensils like tea cups, the general serving spoons, small bowls etc. for measuring ingredients for baking. Or they use a serving bowl as a cake tin. PLEASE DON’T DO THIS!
Yes. You will be able to bake cakes using above techniques. I am not denying that. But the quality of cakes will suffer. And if you genuinely want to learn baking, then I’ll definitely recommend you to buy some basic baking tools and ingredients.
The list below only includes the basic and important things you will need for BAKING FOR BEGINNERS COURSE.
Advanced baking tools and ingredients are not included in this list as the course deals with basic baking.
I have also included links of these tools and ingredients from Amazon. If you want to buy any of these online, then you can buy with these links.
BASIC BAKING TOOLS –
-
Hand Mixer (or a hand whisk) –

Hand Mixer

Hand Whisk
A hand mixer or a hand whisk is used for beating butter and sugar. It is also helpful in advanced baking techniques like whipping cream for frostings.
A hand mixer is an electronic machine while a hand whisk is simply a manual tool (just like a manual egg beater).
I have Bajaj Hand Mixer and I have been using it since a few years. It works well and is really good.
Which one should you buy?
Honestly, if I have to choose one, then I’ll go with hand mixer. This one tool is not only helpful in basic baking but also help in advanced baking. So if you have to invest once, then definitely go for a hand mixer.
In case, you don’t want to buy hand mixer currently, then buy a hand whisk. At least for this course, you can easily use a hand whisk. If you already have a medium sized hand whisk at home, then simply use that, don’t buy a new one.

I tried many brands of maida, but couldn’t find anything satisfactory. Please recommend one.
Urban Platter is a good brand. You can go for Urban Platter Maida. I think you can find it online on Amazon. Another good one is Rajdhani Select Maida. I have used it for cakes and muffins. 🙂
Thank you .
Welcome 🙂
Can we bake in microwave…or otg needed must
Hi! I have baked in both (microwave and OTG). In my opinion, OTG is better than microwave for baking. It is designed for the sole purpose of baking and therefore it gives better results.
However, if you already have a microwave, then you can bake in it. You will get properly baked cookies and cakes.
