Easy Eggless Jam Cookies

These cookies are quite easy to make. You can prepare these eggless cookies easily at any time of the day. These are perfect for baking along with your kids. Eggless Thumbprint cookie ingredients | 4 Ingredient thumbprint cookies

You only need 4 ingredients for these eggless thumbprint jam cookies.
These are :
Maida (All purpose flour)
Butter
Sugar (Powdered)
Jam : You can use any jam flavor. It’s up to you. I have used mixed fruit jam. Here are some good options –
Use room temperature butter. It is easier to whip room temperature butter. In fact, all the above given ingredients should be at room temperature.
Regarding sugar, it’s recommended to use powdered sugar. For powdered sugar, simply add granulated sugar into a blender jar. blend till you get a smooth and fine powder. Measure and use.

How to make Eggless thumbprint jam cookies?
(Quantity of all the ingredients (measurement of ingredients) are given below, after the step by step explanation)
The process is quite simple and easy.
STEP 1.
In a mixing bowl, add room temperature butter. Beat the butter using a hand mixer or a hand whisk for 2-3 minutes or till the butter gets light and creamy.

STEP 2.
Add powdered sugar. Don’t add the entire amount of sugar at once. Add a small amount of sugar. Beat. Again add a small amount of sugar. Beat. Repeat till you get a smooth sugar + butter mixture.

STEP 3.
Now add maida (all purpose flour). Mix nicely till you get a smooth cookie dough.

STEP 4.
Now form a roll out of this cookie dough. Cling wrap it and keep it in the refrigerator for half an hour. Chilling the dough IS AN IMPORTANT STEP. Chilling the cookie dough ensures that the cookies spread less while baking. This would give you soft and chewy cookies.

STEP 5.
After half an hour, take out the cookie dough. Start making small dough balls out of this cookie dough. Also, take the required amount of jam in a small bowl. Whisk it using a spoon. In this way, it would be easier to add the jam in the center of the cookie.

STEP 6.
Flatten the dough ball a little bit. Press it from the center with your thumb. Fill it with jam. Don’t overfill it. Half a teaspoon of jam would be enough for one cookie ball.

STEP 7.
Repeat the above process for all the cookies. You can fill the cookies with different flavors of jam. In this way, in one set of cookies, you will get different colored and flavored cookies.
STEP 8.
Place these cookies on a baking tray that has been lined with a parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
STEP 9.
Bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 C / 350 F. Allow the cookies to cool don a little bit on the baking tray itself for at least 10 minutes, then transfer them to a cooling rack. Let them cool down completely. Store in an airtight container and enjoy these homemade eggless thumbprint jam cookies with tea or coffee.

Easy thumbprint cookies with icing
I haven’t added any icing to my cookies. If you want, you can decorate these thumbprint cookies with icing. A very simple icing can be prepared using powdered sugar and water.
Simple Glaze / Icing Recipe for eggless thumbprint cookies :
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
1 Tablespoon Water
Combine both the ingredients with a hand whisk till you get a smooth and thick glaze / icing. Drizzle this glaze over the cookies once they are cool.
